Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are custom-made caps that cover and protect damaged or weakened teeth. At Redwater Dental Clinic, we offer high-quality crowns that restore both the function and appearance of your teeth, including same-day crown options using advanced digital milling technology.

If you're unsure what to expect or feeling uneasy about the process, we'll explain everything clearly before we begin and check in with you along the way. Sedation is available if you'd like it, and our comfort menu is always on offer — from headphones to a warm blanket.

When You May Need a Crown

  • After a root canal to protect the treated tooth
  • To restore a severely decayed or damaged tooth
  • To strengthen a cracked or weakened tooth
  • To cover a dental implant
  • To improve the appearance of a misshapen tooth
  • To support a dental bridge

The Crown Process

We offer both traditional and same-day crown options:

  1. Comprehensive examination and digital imaging
  2. Tooth preparation and precise digital impressions
  3. Custom crown fabrication (same-day with digital milling or lab-made)
  4. Careful fitting and bite adjustment
  5. Permanent bonding for a secure, comfortable fit

Our same-day crown technology means you can often get your permanent crown in a single visit — no temporary crown or second appointment needed.

Duration & Recovery

With our same-day digital milling technology, your crown can be designed, milled, and placed in a single visit of about two hours. Traditional lab-made crowns require two visits spaced two to three weeks apart. Recovery is minimal — you can eat and drink normally once the numbness wears off. With proper care and regular checkups, dental crowns last 10 to 15 years or longer.

Cost & Insurance

Dental crown costs vary based on the material used (porcelain, zirconia, or porcelain-fused-to-metal) and whether additional treatment like a root canal is needed. At Redwater Dental Clinic, we'll explain all your options and provide a clear estimate before starting treatment.

  • We direct bill most major insurance providers — crowns are typically covered under major dental benefits
  • Same-day crowns available, saving you a second visit
  • Flexible payment options for patients without full coverage
  • CDCP (Canadian Dental Care Plan) accepted
