Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, Microsoft Advertising (Bing) and Microsoft Clarity collect information about how visitors use our site and help measure our advertising. These tools may use cookies or similar technologies.
Our appointment request form, chatbot appointment intake, and membership reservation form use EmailJS to deliver submissions to our clinic. Your form data is transmitted through their servers.
Our website chat assistant is powered by Anthropic's Claude AI, accessed through a Cloudflare Workers service. Messages you type into the chat are processed by these providers to generate responses and are subject to their data handling practices. The assistant provides general information only and is not a substitute for professional dental advice. Please do not share detailed personal health information in the chat — for anything specific to your care, call us at 780-942-4691.
Our online booking is provided by AkituOne. When you book online, the information you enter is processed by their scheduling platform.
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to enhance your browsing experience and collect analytical data. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain website functionality.
We protect your information with administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including staff confidentiality agreements and training, access limited to staff who need it, password and multi-factor protection, encryption where available, and written agreements with the service providers who handle information for us.
We use service providers that may store or process information outside Canada, mainly in the United States. These include Dialpad (phone and text messaging), AkituOne (online booking and practice software), EmailJS (website form delivery), our website chat provider, Google (analytics and advertising), Microsoft (Bing ads and Clarity) and Meta (advertising). Information held outside Canada may be subject to the laws of that country. Redwater Dental Clinic and its dentists are custodians under Alberta's Health Information Act (HIA). We collect, use and disclose health information, including your contact details, only as the HIA allows: to provide and arrange your dental care, to schedule and remind you of appointments, to bill you and your insurer or benefit plan, to meet our professional and legal obligations, and to manage and improve our clinic. Text messaging (SMS) opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third parties, even with your consent. Personal information about people who are not our patients is handled under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Any use of your health information for marketing follows the requirements of the HIA.
You have the right to ask for access to your health information and to ask us to correct it. Please make your request in writing to our Privacy Officer. We will respond within 30 days, as required by law. If you're not satisfied with our response, you may ask the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC) to review it.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may disclose your information only in the following circumstances:
If you call Redwater Dental Clinic at 780-942-4691 and we miss your call, we may text you back with a link to book an appointment or an offer to call you back. We send these texts only after you agree to receive them during a call with our staff. We send them through our phone provider, Dialpad, which stores data in the United States.
What we collect: your mobile number, the texts we exchange, and a record of your consent (date, time and how you agreed).
How we use it: only to reply to your call, help you book, and keep our consent records. We do not include health details in texts, and we do not send promotional texts.
No sharing for marketing: we do not sell, rent or share your mobile number. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the categories in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Dialpad, our phone provider, processes texts on our behalf to deliver them; this is not sharing for any third-party purpose.

We will not share or sell SMS opt-in data or consent with any third parties.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, even with your consent.
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by applicable laws and regulations. Website analytics data is retained in accordance with Google Analytics' default data retention settings.
In the event of a privacy breach that poses a risk of harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta in accordance with the requirements of the Health Information Act and PIPA.
Our website is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact our Privacy Officer immediately.
